Characteristics :
The government of The Gambia has obtained funding from the Kuwaiti Fund (FK) for the studies and preparation of tender documents for the reconstruction and modernization works of the Laminkoto-Passimus road over a length of 121 km and a width of 7m with 1.5m of asphalt shoulders on each side as well as the construction of 110 hydraulic structures (scuppers, culverts).
The project aims at supporting economic and social development in the northeastern region of The Gambia by improving its link with the capital Banjul and its main seaport and improving connections with other regions of the country in all weather conditions, in order to improve the exploitation of their agricultural products and reduce the time and cost of their transport, and to facilitate the access of the population to markets and social services.
The project includes the expropriation of the project rights-of-way, earthworks, construction of the roadway layers, drainage structures and devices, safety provisions and environmental measures.
Mission of IDC :
Detailed studies and preparation of tender documents; Assistance in the evaluation of the bids and the preparation of the contract; Supervision of the works.
