The Government of The Gambia has received a loan from BADEA and FSD for the studies and construction of the crossing of the town of Brikama as well as the Brikama – Dimbaya – Darsilami – Marakissa loop over a length of 26 km. The existing road has sections of earth and other asphalt, it crosses agricultural tracks and urban areas. The works of this road mainly include: • Reorganization and widening of the urban crossing of the city of Brikama including sidewalks and drainage works, expropriation of constructions and signage, • Construction of a roadway consisting of a bituminous concrete wearing course (5cm thick), a laterite cement base layer (20cm thick) and a natural laterite subgrade (20cm thick); • Development of crossroads and crossings of villages; • The construction of two shoulders paved in bilayer; • The coating of sidewalks with surface plaster at crossings of built-up areas; • The construction of transverse drainage works such as culverts and scuppers; • The construction of longitudinal drainage works such as earthen and concrete ditches. |
