MINISTER VISITS ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS IN THE SOUTH
The Minister of Public Works Yesterday, May 10, 2021, began an assessment tour of ongoing road construction works in the South region.
He made a first stop, in the Dja and Lobo Division to assess the progress of rehabilitation works underway on some roads in the
Meyomessala Subdivision. This concerns particularly the
Ndjomyekombo-Biboulemam (8.30 Km), the
Bidjong loop (41.80 km), and the Zoumeyos-Mekin crossroads (12.30 km) sections. Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi noted with satisfaction the rate of progress of the works which are to be completed on September 5, 2021, set deadline.
The Minister continued the tour on the first sections of the construction works of the Cameroon section of the Sangmélima-Ouesso cross-border road. The
Sangmélima-Bikoula (65 Km), and Bikoula-Djoum (38 Km) were examined. The Minister had fruitful discussions on the field with residents whose properties still occupied the rights-of-way. He engaged measures for the advance payment of compensation, allowing immediate engagement of earthworks on uninhabited sections. The companies will prepare resettlement sites for the populations still settled on the works’ corridor.
During site meetings in the cities of Meyomessala and Djoum, measures were taken to solve various issues in view of delivering the works on set deadlines.
The Minister of Public Works continues his tour this Tuesday, May 11 with the Mengong-Sangmelima road construction project (74 km) and the rehabilitation works of the National Road No 2 Ebolowa-Mbalmayo-Nsimalen (133.8km).
